Getting to Know Your Clients through Questionnaires

  2. Getting to Know Your Clients through Questionnaires

No matter what you’re trying to market, understanding your customers is crucial. Whether you’re selling energy drinks or ornamental bird feeders, the marketing process must revolve around getting to know exactly who your customers are, what gets them going and what they’re interested in.

Real estate is no different, and many agents use questionnaires to help gauge their demographics and reduce the need for guesswork when it comes to understanding customers.

Mike Brown noted in RISMedia that “By asking targeted and strategic questions, you can learn lots of relevant details and tidbits to accurately assess the individual needs of each buyer. That way, you can pair up each listing’s criteria with buyers who are the best fit, allowing you to cross hundreds of unlikely buyers off your list and spend time going after the most probable leads.”

A couple of tips for putting together a questionnaire:

Keep it brief: People are busy, and bombarding them with an extensive list of questions will only lead to annoyance. Respect their time.

Request minimal contact information: Asking for excessive personal details is a major turnoff. A simple email address provides a less intrusive means of future communication.

Provide a short introduction: Help survey participants understand the purpose of the questions. Explain that you are constantly striving to improve your business and that their input will assist in finding the perfect home for them.

Thank them for their time: Remember, these individuals are either existing or potential valuable clients. Show appreciation for their participation.
